Macmillan Coffee Morning 2020
Posted: 30/09/2020
On Friday 25th September our office took part in the national Macmillan Coffee Morning, in aid of raising money for the brilliant Macmillan Cancer Support charity.
Our office kitchen table was filled with homemade tasty treats and some shop bought goodies, generously brought in by our staff. It was a brilliant morning for us all to break our diets- and the cakes tasted even sweeter knowing that we were raising money for such a great cause.
For those who don’t know exactly what Macmillan do, they provide specialist health care, information and financial support to those affected by cancer. They also look at the social, emotional and practical impact that cancer can have on people’s livelihoods. They even campaign for better cancer care in the UK.
We wanted to ensure that our coffee morning complied with social distancing guidelines, whilst still being able to enjoy the cakes. To do this we placed posters around the table to remind the staff to stay at least 2 metres apart and we put nitrile gloves and hand sanitiser around the table too. The staff were made aware that they had to be wearing the gloves provided before touching any of the cakes.
In addition, we ran a competition for the best baker! Staff voted for the bake that they thought was the tastiest (homemade, not shop bought!). Our winner was Greg Daynes’ daughter, who bagged herself a voucher for her prize-winning carrot cupcakes!
The grand total of what we raised throughout the day, was an amazing… £168!
Thanks again to our staff for being so generous, in their baking, donating and commitment to eating cake!
